What is Chemistry and why is it important to study?

Chemistry is the study of matter (anything with mass and takes up space) and its changes. Everything you touch, taste or smell is made of chemicals.  Studying chemistry means you will learn a little bit about how things work in the world around you and in you. It explains everyday things such as why salt dissolves better in hot water or how antacids work.  Knowing some chemistry will help you understand the world at the atomic level!
